Plant Logistics Head - First Mile

General Purpose

Responsible for leading and optimizing end-to-end plant logistics operations, including warehouse management, primary fleet operation and all associated logistics services, The role oversees a large-scale operation of +80K pallet positions, manages +75 primary fleet trucks, and includes accountability for reverse logistics and returns, scrap yard operations, and pallet workshop activities, ensuring alignment with company standards and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

• Oversee and manage end-to-end plant logistics operations, including raw material and finished goods warehousing, primary fleet operations, and all associated logistics services.
• Design and execute logistics and warehouse strategies that optimize operations, support production plans, and meet sales objectives.
• Evaluate plant logistics operational challenges and implement actions to mitigate risks while identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities.
• Lead, mentor, and manage warehouse and fleet operation teams to ensure high-performance culture and accountability.
• Drive continuous improvement, digitalization, and productivity initiatives across Plant logistics functions.
• Oversee all inbound and outbound goods movements, ensuring accurate and timely inventory control, receiving, storage, and shipping.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
• Actively engage in setting up Plant logistics business plan including warehousing infrastructure development, investment and expansion plans.
• Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO), location accuracy, and optimal warehouse layout to maximize space utilization.
• Oversee daily operations of all primary fleet activities, including planning, dispatch, route optimization and vehicle utilization.
• Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
• Responsible for leading, developing, and managing the plant logistics team, including training and workforce planning.
• Prepare warehouses and primary fleet budget, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with company financial objectives.
• Monitor and control plant logistics–related expenses, including transportation, warehousing, and handling costs, ensuring cost optimization and achievement of savings targets.
• Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and in order to implement change and improvements.
• Ensure all warehousing and fleet operation activities comply with internal policies, AIB, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., customs, safety, environment.
• Collaborate with Production, Procurement, Planning, Quality, and Sales teams.
• Oversee all plant warehouse activities: receiving, storage, picking, and dispatch.
• Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy (cycle counts, stock reconciliation).
• Ensure fleet availability aligned with dispatch plans and production output.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards

Experience / Qualifications

• At least 15 years of proven working experience in logistics.
• Ability to influence individuals and teams in order to achieve set or desired goals and objectives.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership talent and interpersonal skills.
• Good commercial and business understanding.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
• Record of successful distribution and logistics management.
